AED109A - Distribution of people aged 18-69 who know at least one foreign language according to the self-reported level of competence, by sex, urban/rural area, age groups, level of education, current activity status and development regions |
Definition |
Foreign language is any language known (used) by the respondent, other than the one he considers to be his mother tongue. People with a mother tongue other than Romanian could declare the latter as a known foreign language. Languages used means all languages that a person can understand or speak, even if very little. Linguistic skills in a foreign language are determined based on the respondent's own assessment of the level of knowledge of it: - Basic user refers to the fact that the person can communicate in a simple conversation, formulate simple questions on known topics or of immediate need and answer such questions; - Intermediate user refers to the fact that the person can participate without prior preparation in a conversation on familiar topics, of personal interest or related to everyday life (e.g. family, leisure, travel, professional activity and current events) ; -Advanced user refers to the fact that the person can express himself fluently and spontaneously, and use the language flexibly and effectively in social relations and for professional purposes. |
