Number of printed books and booklets entered the Legal Deposit of the National Library comprises the activity of publishing and extra-publishing production. They include papers issued on the whole country territory, carried out by public and private publishing houses,, workshops of higher education institutions, offices of higher education institutions, information and documentation offices of units, ministries and administrative and financial banking institutions having publishing activity. There are also included: separate fascicles, almanacs, calendars, agendas, periodical fragments, musical sets, art reproductions (of albums, engravings, pictures, portraits, postcards, photos) atlases, maps, printing plans, teaching globes, propagandas communication materials (with political, administrative, cultural, artistic, scientific, educational, religious, sport, commercial) character) programmes, announcements, posters, proclamations, drawings, PhD papers, university courses, audio-video (disks, tapes, video tapes, microfilms, others).
Registering year refers to the registration date of the Legal Book Stock. International decimal classification is used.
Production of books and booklets comprises non-peridodicals printed and published in the country by public and private publishing houses for the public, which generally should be included in the national bibliography of the country, except the publications issued for publicity purposes, catalogues, prospects of commercial, industrial and tourism advertisement, which draw attention over some products and services provided by the publisher, transient publications: time-tables, tariffs, telephone yearbooks, show, exhibition and fair programs, statutes and balance-sheets, calendars, musical operas, cartographic production (except atlases and maps) in a calendar year.
Production of books also includes: official publications of public administration (except confidential ones), school manuals, university courses and theses, republished books and booklets, illustrated papers, collections of engravings and art reproductions, drawings, albums of cartoons. A publication is considered as released for the public when it can be bought in the market for a price or it is offered free of charge. The book represents a non-periodical having at least 49 pages. The brochure is a periodical of 5-48 pages .
Component elements registered are as follows:
- the publication title - measurement unit of papers , printed or issued - presented as independent volume from printing viewpoint. In case of newspapers and magazines, "title" is considered every separate name of the newspaper or magazine.
- circulation - number of printed copies for a book, booklet, newspaper or magazine or any other publication.
Data are provided by the National Library which functions according to the law of Legal Book Stock. |
