| Definition |
Production of newspapers and magazines includes all periodicals expressed by number of titles printed and edited in the country for the public and which generally should be comprised in the national bibliography, except publications edited for advertising purposes: commercial, industrial and tourism advertisment, publications of products and services provided by the publishers, occasional publications: time-tables, tariffs, telephone yearbooks, show, exhibition and fair programs, statutes and balance sheets of the companies, directives and circulars, calendars and musical operas, cartographic production (except atlases and maps). Production of newspapers and magazines also includes: collections of laws and regulations of public administration (except confidential ones or for internal use), academic and scientific, university periodicals of research or cultural institutions, periodicals of professionall, trade-union, political, sport organizations, parish and school bulletins, radio-TV programs, if published as magazine type.
It is registered the number of the following titles:
- newspaper - daily publication or not, issuing news, information, comments of the most recent internal and international events of political, social, cultural, professional, sport character etc.
- magazine - periodical dealing with either a general interest topic or especially some documentary materials and studies related to problems in the fields of law, politics, economy, finance, trade, cultural, philosophical, technical, medical, fashion, culture, etc. Magazines are ranked by frequency of occurrence: at least 4 times per week, 1-3 times per week, 2-3 times per month, 8-12 times per year 5-7 times per year 2-4 times per year , once a year or more, at irregular intervals. Periodicity refers to the publication and not statistical reporting. |
