| Methodology |
Regional accounts represent a regional version of the national accounts of the economy and are therefore based on the same concepts and definitions as the national accounts. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at market prices is the final result of the production activity of resident producer units. In the regional accounts, it is calculated using the production method, as follows: GDP is the sum of the gross value added by branches of activity, to which taxes are added and subsidies on products are subtracted. In general, regionalisation can be carried out using the top-down method and the mixed method. The main regional aspects are addressed in Chapter 13 of ESA 2010, but they are not specified in practical terms. For practical rules and recommendations regarding sources and methods, please refer to the publication ''Manual on Regional Accounts Methods'': https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/en/web/products-manuals-and-guidelines/-/KS-GQ-13-001
