Important!
· Please hold Shift or Ctrl keys while clicking the dimension elements to obtain a multiple selection.
· Use the three buttons below each dimension to ease your selection: Expand, Collapse and Select All
· The measuring units are all selected by default, to prevent empty results when combining uncompatible requests (for example, one may ask for production of corn measured in liters; or a value in ROL after the denomination in 2005). You are free to modify the selection, just be careful. Thank you!
ECC501A - Environment - The amount of household waste collected, by categories
Definition It expresses the amount of household waste collected by sanitation operators from the population, as well as similar waste in nature and composition with household waste, collected from other generators (institutions, commercial units, economic operators).
The total amount of household and assimilated waste represents the waste collected separately and in mixture, which includes: paper and cardboard, plastic, metal, glass, biodegradable, textile, wood, bulky, as well as other types of waste from the municipal waste category. Waste collected by sanitation operators from municipal services (parks, gardens and street cleaning) is not included.
The quantities of household waste by types of material (textile and biodegradable) represent the quantities collected separately on these categories of waste by sanitation operators.
The indicator is used to monitor progress in the separate collection of waste, aims at sustainable waste management, ensuring sustainable consumption and adopting an environmentally friendly lifestyle for consumers.
Selective waste collection has an important impact on the environment, by reducing greenhouse gas emissions as a result of reducing the amount of waste stored. It is thus possible to conserve natural resources, save energy and water resources, reduce air pollution and water resources.

Data sources National Environmental Protection Agency
Methodology The data are taken from the Integrated Environmental Information System, the Waste Statistics application, statistical questionnaires.
The legal basis for data collection is Law 211/2011 on the waste regime (transposing Directive 2008/98 on waste), Commission Decision 2014/955 / EU amending Decision 2000/532 / EC establishing a list of wastes under Directive 2008/98 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council and Regulation 2150/2002 on waste statistics.
The economic units that generate waste, as well as the economic units authorized to carry out activities of collection, transport, temporary storage, recovery and disposal of waste, have the obligation to keep a record of their management and to transmit to the territorial public authorities for environmental protection. The data are entered online in the Integrated Environmental Information System (SIM) of the National Agency for Environmental Protection, subsequently validated and processed according to various reporting requirements.
Starting with 2010, the data are calculated according to the EUROSTAT Guide on the collection of data on municipal waste.
