EXP105A - Unit value indices for export and imports |
Definition |
Unit value indices for foreign trade on data expressed in euro are calculated based on the average unit values, for a representative goods nomenclature from the Combined Nomenclature (CN), at 8 digits level, according to Paasche formula. For the agregation of unit value indices, calculated at 8 digits level, on different levels of CN and total exports, respectively total imports, it is used as weighting element, the goods value from the current period. The used calculation base for the calculation of unit value indices is the previous year, and unit value indices with other bases are calculated by chaining.

Observations |
The first year for which the unit value indices were calculated was 1996. Between 1996-1999 the unit value indices have been calculated from values expressed in USD, and starting with the year 2000 from values expressed in euro. For this reason IVU for the years 1996-1999 are not comparable with the ones calculated starting 2000 and will not be present in TEMPO. |
