The average gross salary earned by an employee in October represents the salary calculated as average for a person who worked full-time the whole month and it is determined as ratio between the gross sums paid for October, representing the components of the wages and salaries and the number of employees in October who worked full-time the whole month and who were fully paid or were going to be fully paid for their activity. |

Methodology |
The average gross salary earned in October comprises:
- money rights and payments in kind of the employees who worked full-time the whole month according to the salary type applied;
- bonuses and allowances granted as salary percentage or in fixed amounts according to normative documents or collective labour contracts;
- bonuses paid from salary fund.
Are excluded the gross amounts paid from the net profit, from other funds, for overtime and backdated arrears for the previous period of reference month.
The number of employees who worked full-time the whole month includes the persons full-time employed and who were fully paid. Apprentices in practice in enterprises, persons with working contract at home, persons working less than full-time, persons employed on trial and debutants (interns) are not included. The working days category also includes the holidays, as well as the other non-working days for which the salary rights have been fully paid from the salary fund (the sick leave days are excluded).
The survey has been designed according to the provisions of the national legislation in force and to the international recommendations on the subject stated by the International Labour Office.
Data obtained were aggregated by the main activity of units according to the Classification of Activities of the National Economy CANE Rev.1, harmonized with the European classification in the field (NACE Rev. 1) and the Classification of Occupations in Romania (COR) harmonized with the European clasification in the field (ISCO - COM - 88).

Observations |
The data are available starting 2005, for the previous period they weren't collected.
For 2006 data are not available because every four years, according to European regulations, is conducted the Structure of earnings survey (SES) that provides information on earnings by occupation in October (for units with more than 10 employees).
