| Definition |
New orders in industry represent the value of contracts from the reference month between a producer and a customer and refer to the deliveries of goods and services related to the producer, no matter the period when they are to be honored. The Nomenclature of economic operators is used in order to collect turnover from industry, for economic operators from the manufacturing working based on orders (CANE Rev.2 divisions: 13, 14, 17, 20, 21, 24-30). |

| Methodology |
The statistical survey is of sample type. New orders index per total (domestic and non-domestic market) is calculated as the weighed mean between the new orders index on domestic market and the new orders index on nondomestic market, by each aggregation level of industry. The weights are calculated based on the turnover, according to the results of the Business Structural Survey in the base year (2005).
Statistical research is selective. The turnover indices are Laspeyres indices and are calculated according to Council Regulation no. 1165/1998 amended by European Parliament Regulation no. 1158/2005 regarding short-term statistics.
The data for the year 2008 period were recodified according to the new CANE Rev. 2, harmonised with the European classification in the field NACE Rev. 2, and the data series were recalculated according to the new classification and as a result of changing the base year and the weighting system used to calculate the indices. The recalculation was based on the data collected in 2008, according to both CANE revisions, through the statistical survey on short-term indicators in industry.The data series for the 2000-2007 period was estimated according to CANE Rev. 2 on the basis of the matrix of conversion between the two versions of the classification. The matrix was built using the results of the survey meant to improve the statistical register and updated with information collected through the structural business survey.
