PMI104A - Tree defoliation by main species and at all ages by defoliation class |
Definition |
Forests health is influenced by air pollution, insects, diseases, fire, bad weather and other meteorological damage. Data on forests status come from the surveys carried out by National Forest Adminsitration by national network monitoring the forests (4x4 Km) by permanent surveys, as to trees inventoried, resinous and broad-leaved tree species. One of the indicators presenting the trees deterioration level is the defoliation degree of the trees top. The defoliation is evaluated by the ratio of fallen leaves according to the established standards and it is divided into 5 classes: - 0 class: 0-10% = unaffected; - 1 class: 11-25% = slight; - 2 class: 26-60% = medium; - 3 class: 61-99% = severe; - 4 class: 100% = dry. |
