Important!
· Please hold Shift or Ctrl keys while clicking the dimension elements to obtain a multiple selection.
· Use the three buttons below each dimension to ease your selection: Expand, Collapse and Select All
· The measuring units are all selected by default, to prevent empty results when combining uncompatible requests (for example, one may ask for production of corn measured in liters; or a value in ROL after the denomination in 2005). You are free to modify the selection, just be careful. Thank you!
PMI115A - Environmental Goods and Services Sector (EGSS), by NACE Rev.2 activities and environmental domains
Definition The indicators for Environmental Goods and Services Sector (EGSS) are:
Output consists of those produced goods or services that become available for use outside the producer unit, any goods and services produced for own final use and goods that remain in the inventories at the end of the period in which they are produced. In the EGSS output also includes ancillary output. Non-market output is estimated by the total costs of production.
Market output (P.11, according ESA 2010) consists of output that is disposed of on the market or intended to be disposed of on the market.
Non-market output (P.13, according ESA 2010) is output that is provided to other units for free, or at prices that are not economically significant i.e. at prices that cover less than 50% of production costs.
Gross value added is equal to the difference between the value of production and the value of intermediate consumption, accounting for the value newly created during the production process.
Employment consists of persons engaged in productive activity, according to ESA 2010.
In organic farming, forestry and fishing it is measured in full time equivalent and we estimate it by average number of employees, calculated in full-time equivalent, in the other activities of environmental protection and resource management of the Productive sector.
Exports consist of transactions in goods and services (purchases, barter, gifts or grants) from residents to non-residents.
Goods, services and technologies produced for environmental protection or resource management are classified according to their function and characteristics, as:
Environmental specific services are those services that have the main purpose of: preventing, reducing and eliminating pollution and any other degradation of the environment, or preserving and maintaining the stock of natural resources and hence safeguarding against depletion.
Connected products directly serve and has no use except for environmental protection (EP) and resource management (RM). They can be services or goods.
Adapted goods are goods less pollutant or more resource efficient than equivalent normal products which furnish similar utility. Adapted goods can be divided into cleaner goods and resource efficient goods.
End of pipe technologies are mainly technical installations and equipment produced for environmental measurement, control, treatment and restoration/correction of pollution, environmental degradation, and/or resource depletion.
Integrated technologies are technical processes, methods or knowledge used in production processes less pollutant and resource intensive than the equivalent average technology used by national producers. Their use is less environmentally harmful than relevant alternatives.
Ancillary activities are those that exist solely to support the main productive activities of an entity by providing goods or services for the use of that entity. Ancillary output of environmental products refers to environmental products, produced and consumed within the same unit, for intermediate use.
The environmental sector does include market and non-market activities. In general, producers pertaining to a public institution are non-market producers. The criterion used generally to identify market activities is that the price paid to use the goods and services must cover more than 50 per cent of the production costs.
