Methodology |
The mean age of the usually resident population is determined by the formula:
x=[SUM(x+0,5)Px]/SUM(Px)
where:
x = age in completed years;
Px = population of x years old;
0.5 = constant (half year, considered as the average equivalent of variation of deviations from the exact date to reach a certain age).
Age is expressed in completed years (for instance, a person of 24 years old and 11 months at July 1st, is considered to be of 24 years old).

Observations |
The usually resident population on July 1st of the reference year includes all the persons (Romanian citizens, foreign citizens and persons without citizenship) who have their usual residence in Romania for at least 12 months.
Usual residence is the place where a person normally spends the daily period of rest, regardless of temporary absences for purposes of recreation, holidays, visits to friends and relatives, business, medical treatment or religious pilgrimage. The usual residence may be the same as the domicile or may differ from it, for the persons who choose to establish their usual residence in a locality other than the locality of domicile in the country or abroad.
The usually resident population includes the persons who immigrated to Romania but excludes the persons who emigrated from Romania.
Data regarding the mean age of the usually resident population are available at territorial level, starting with 2012, at the following levels of detail: national level, macroregions, development regions and counties.
The statistical data are constantly revised, according to the Revision Policy of INS. Thus, the data for 2021 have been modified and are of "revised". Data prior to 2021 will not be revised. |
