Definition |
Immigrants by legal residence change are the persons (Romanian citizens) who immigrate in Romania. Immigration is the action by which one person ceases to have his or her legal residence on the territory of another country and establishes his or her legal residence in Romania. The person's legal residence in Romania is the address where he/she declares to have the main dwelling, printed as such on its identity card and registered by the administrative bodies of the State. |

Methodology |
Immigrant - Romanian citizen who establishes his or her legal residence in Romania, pursuant to Law no.21/1991 on Romanian citizenship and those who re-establishes his or her legal residence in Romania.
In the period 2007-2011 also were taken into account the stateless or foreign citizenship persons who have established their legal residence in Romania with the consent of the Romanian authorities.
Age is expressed in the years reached during the year (for instance, a person of 24 years old and 11 months at July 1st, is considered to be of 24 years old).

The number and name of localities are in accordance with administrative territorial structure updated for current year.
For the period 1990-1993 there are not available information because data provided by the Ministry of Administration and Interior regarding international migration can not be reconstituted at the individual level. Before 1994 these data were aggregated with arrivals with domicile at resident population level as well as local level.
Immigrants by domicile will be taken into account when determining legally resident population. |
