| Definition |
The average prices of agricultural products are calculated as the weighted arithmetic mean of the average prices obtained at the level of macro-channels of sale (agro-food markets - fairs and processors - traders - agricultural trading companies). The statistical survey on the prices of agricultural products is aimed at obtaining the selling prices set by agricultural producers, at farm gate.
Prices have the following characteristics: they reflect the first marketing stage, they do not include transport or storage costs etc., they do not include subsidies on products nor VAT. |

| Methodology |
The statistical survey on the prices of agricultural products is aimed at obtaining the selling prices set by agricultural producers, at farm gate.
The average prices of agricultural products are calculated as the weighted arithmetic mean of the average prices obtained at the level of macro-channels of sale (agro-food markets - fairs and processors - traders - agricultural trading companies). The weights are calculated at county level based on the crop and animal production so: for the years 2004-2007 based on data from 2001, for the years 2008-2012 based on data from 2005, for the years 2013-2017 based on 2010 data, for the years 2018 - 2023 based on the data from 2015, for the years 2024 - currently based on the average data from 2019 - 2021.
Prices have the following characteristics: they reflect the first marketing stage, they do not include transport or storage costs etc., they do not include subsidies on products nor VAT.
For the products wheat, two-row barley, sunflower, soya, fresh ewe milk, prices are expressed in RON / standard unit of measure.
In 2004, oats were not comprised in the statistical survey.

The statistical servey for the prices of agricultural products has been implemented in the year 2004.
Up to 2004 have not been calculated average prices at the product level.
Starting with 2005, data are expressed in Romanian lei (RON).
Starting from July 2023, prices will no longer be collected from the fairs. |
