Definition |
Patients discharged from hospitals represent the discharged persons after carrying out medical procedures or treatments within medical assistance unit with beds, for one night or over 24 hours treatment and/or care inside one hospital or another institution providing medical care for patients. |

Methodology |
For 1993-2009 period, the data refer only to the majority of state sector units (only Ministry of Health network). Since 2010, the data refer both for to the state majority sector units and for the private one. In the number of the discharged pacients there are not included the pacients discharged from external causes of morbidity, factors influencing health status and other reasons of the call for health services. The data source for the period 1993-2009 is the Ministry of Health and refers to the public sector (the Ministry of Health network). Starting with 2010, the data source is the National School of Public Health, Management and Professional Development and refers to the public sector as well as the private sector.
