SCL101A - Education units, by categories of units, ownerships, macroregions, development regions and counties 
Definition Education unit - represents the administrative educational unit, juridical entity included in National Nomenclature SIRUES, where one or more level of education are functioning and having a single management system. The following are considered education units: creches, kindergartens, primary and lower secondary education units, special lower secondary education units, high-schools (upper secondary education units), education groups (within which more than one education level are functioning), vocational and foremen schools, post-secondary schools, and tertiary education institutions.

Data sources Statistical surveys carried out at the beginning of school year (academic year) in educational units:
1.Early childhood education (ISCED levels 01) details
2.Pre-school education (ISCED level 02) details
3.Primary (ISCED level 1) and secondary (ISCED level 2) education details
4.Special primary ISCED level 1) and secondary (ISCED level 2) education details
5.High school education (ISCED level 3)details
6.Vocational education (ISCED level 3) and post high school education (ISCED level 4) details
7.Tertiary education (ISCED levels 6,7 and 8) details 
Methodology The education levels, according to the International Classification of Educational Standards - ISCED 97 (until 2013)/ISCED 2011 (after 2013).

Observations Data for tertiary education are provided by the place (locality) of each faculty.
Starting with the school year 2014/2015, number of educational units also includes data on the number of creches/nurseries.
Statistical data on the number of school units and related pre-universitary teaching staff refer to independent school units (nurseries/kindergartens/primary and lower secondary schools/upper secondary schools/vocational schools/postsecondary and/or and foremen schools, provided that they met the following conditions: are registered with the SIRUES National Classification; have recorded their Unique Registration Number/tax number; represent the school unit type having the greatest number of pupils/students enrolled; have students enrolled in full-time education - except for nurseries and kindergartens; have their own teaching staff - full-time employees; and have their own school support facilities.
Data on other early childhood, pre-primary (preschool), (special) primary and lower-secondary, vocational and upper secondary non-tertiary education units refer to the divisions within educational establishments providing one or more levels of education, those organised to run the Second Chance programme for primary and secondary education, included. Such data are outlined starting with the 2021-2022 school year.
Data on early childhood and pre-primary education is not included in pre-university education.
