Definition |
Specific legislative framework: This social assistance benefit is a financial aid granted under Law 416/2001, regarding the guaranteed minimum income, with subsequent amendments and completions, aid to be able to support people at risk to overcome the state of crisis in which they are. The social assistance is granted monthly, in addition to the monthly net income of the family or of the single person, in order to ensure the guaranteed minimum income. |

Methodology |
The guaranteed minimum income (GMI) is ensured by providing social assistance. Social assistance is calculated as the difference between the level of GMI provided by law (art. 4) and the net income earned by the family and the single person, respectively. |
