Indicator provides information on the priorities that governments give to various public activities / areas of funding in the field of research and development. This area provides users with data on government budget allocations for research and development (GBARD). GBARD data measures government support for research and development and therefore provides information on the priorities that governments give to various public research and development funding activities. GBARD data are compiled using the guidelines set out in the Guidelines for the Collection and Reporting of Experimental Research and Development Data - Frascati Manual, OECD, 2015. |

Methodology |
In the latest version of the Frascati Manual (FM 2015), the term 'Government budget appropriations or expenditure on research and development' (GBAORD) has been replaced by the simpler term 'Government budget allocations for research and development' (GBARD). |
