Data sources |
National Institute of Statistics - Statistical survey 'Activity of medical and healthcare network' |
Methodology |
The average number of inhabitants per one family doctor is calculated by dividing the number of resident population to the number of family doctors who have practised in the geographical area and in the reference year for which the indicator was calculated. The distribution of the resident population by macro-region, development region, county and residence area was made by the usual residence of the persons, and the distribution of family doctors was made by the location of the medical office where they have declared their main activity to be. |
Last update |

Observations |
The family doctors were counted only once, at the healthcare unit (family medicine office) where they have declared their main activity to be.
Previous to 2020, the name of the statistical survey was 'Activity of sanitary units'.
For the period 2008 - 2011 the indicator was calculated using the population by domicile on 1st July of the reference year. Starting with 2012, the indicator was calculated using the resident population on 1st July of the reference year.
