Important!
· Please hold Shift or Ctrl keys while clicking the dimension elements to obtain a multiple selection.
· Use the three buttons below each dimension to ease your selection: Expand, Collapse and Select All
· The measuring units are all selected by default, to prevent empty results when combining uncompatible requests (for example, one may ask for production of corn measured in liters; or a value in ROL after the denomination in 2005). You are free to modify the selection, just be careful. Thank you!
TCQ0342 - Target 4 - Social -Infant mortality rate
Definition Infant mortality rate is the ratio between the number of deaths under 1 year in a year and the live births of the same year and is expressed by the number of deaths under 1 year per 1000 live births from the same year.
Periodicity Annual
Data sources NIS: Statistical survey on mortality
NIS: Statistical survey on natality
Methodology The infant mortality rate is computed by dividing the number of deaths under 1 year during the reference period to the number of live births in the same period and then multiplying by 1000.
Last update MAR 07, 2024
Observations Until 2011, the number of deaths under 1 year and live births included deaths under 1 year and live births whose mothers were domiciled in Romania at the time of birth and whose births were registered at the Status Offices Civil from Romania.
Starting from 2012, only deceased persons under 1 year of age and live births whose mothers had, on the date of birth, habitual residence in Romania and whose birth was registered at the Civil Status Offices in Romania are included.
Usual residence is the place where a per-son normally spends his daily rest period, without taking into account temporary absences for recreation, holidays, visits to friends and relatives, business, medical treatment or religious pilgrimage.
The statistical data are constantly revised, according to the Revision Policy of NIS.
Thus, the data for 2020 have been modified and are of "revised".
Data prior to 2020 will not be revised.
The revised data on vital events (infant deaths and live-births) for the year T represents the absolute final data related to vital events (infant deaths and live-births) recorded in year T, to which were added vital events (infant deaths and live-births) belatedly recorded in years (T+1), (T+2) and the first four months of (T+3), but that occurred in year T.
