Important!
· Please hold Shift or Ctrl keys while clicking the dimension elements to obtain a multiple selection.
· Use the three buttons below each dimension to ease your selection: Expand, Collapse and Select All
· The measuring units are all selected by default, to prevent empty results when combining uncompatible requests (for example, one may ask for production of corn measured in liters; or a value in ROL after the denomination in 2005). You are free to modify the selection, just be careful. Thank you!
TCT0345 - Target 4 - Social - NEONATAL MORTALITY RATE ((DEATHS PER 1,000 LIVE BIRTHS)
Definition Neonatal mortality rate: the ratio of the number of deaths of children under 28 days during the year to the number of live births in that year. The value is expressed per 1000 live births.
Periodicity Annual
Data sources NIS: Statistical survey on mortality
NIS: Statistical survey on natality
Methodology The neonatal mortality rate is calculated by relating the number of neonatal deaths to the number of live births of the same year, and multiplied by 1000.
Last update MAR 20, 2024
Observations Until 2011, the number of deceased (0-27 days) and live births respectively included deaths (0-27 days) and live births whose mothers were domiciled in Romania on the date of birth and whose birth was registered at the Civil Status Offices in Romania.
Starting from 2012, only the deceased (0-27 days) and live births whose mothers had their usual residence in Romania at the date of birth and whose birth was registered at the Civil Status Offices in Romania are included.
Usual residence means the place at which a person normally spends the daily period of rest, regardless of temporary absences for purposes of recreation, holiday, visits to friends and relatives, business, medical treatment or religious pilgrimage or, in default, the place of legal or registered residence.
The statistical data are constantly revised, according to the Revision Policy of NIS.
Thus, the data for 2020 have been modified and are of "revised".
Data prior to 2020 will not be revised.
The revised data on vital events (deaths and live-births) for the year T represents the absolute final data related to vital events ( deaths and live-births) recorded in year T, to which were added vital events (deaths and live-births) belatedly recorded in years (T+1), (T+2) and the first four months of (T+3), but that occurred in year T.
