Definition |
The indicator measures the share of the children between the age of three and the starting age of compulsory primary education who participated in early childhood education. SDG 4 Quality education ? the indicator directly measures the implementation of target 4.2 regarding the achievement of an education system based on ability and focused on the needs of the pupils, who should enjoy greater freedom in choosing what they study through measures such as introducing and increasing the amount of optional subjects. The EU target for participation in early childhood education and care should be at least 96% for children between three years old and the starting age for compulsory primary education by 2030. |
