TGE0612 - Target 1 - Environment - The volume of wastewater and the quantities of pollutants discharged in natural receivers |
Definition |
Wastewater represents water from domestic, social or economic activities, which contains pollutants or residues that alter its initial physical, chemical and bacteriological characteristics. Discharged wastewater includes all wastewater discharged into natural receivers, with or without prior treatment. Pollutants are substances that are dissolved and/or entrained in water used for domestic, social or economic activities. Biochemical oxygen consumption CBO5 is the amount of oxygen consumed for oxidative degradation by microorganisms of organic substances contained at standard temperature (20 degrees Celsius) and standard time (5 days). Chemical oxygen consumption CCO-Cr (potassium dichromate method) is the mass concentration of oxygen equivalent to the amount of potassium dichromate consumed for oxidation in acidic environment of dissolved and suspended organic matter present in wastewater. Suspended substances MTS represent insoluble substances in wastewater that can be separated by filtration, centrifugation or sedimentation (with dimensions of max. 2 mm). Total NT nitrogen is the total nitrogen content of wastewater. Total phosphorus PHT is the total phosphorus content in wastewater. |
