Definition |
The employed population comprises all persons - both employees and self-employed - engaged in production activities that fall within the national accounts production boundary. Employees are all persons working under contract for a resident institutional unit and receiving remuneration recorded as compensation of employees. Own-account workers are persons who are sole owners or co-owners of the unincorporated enterprises in which they work, except for unincorporated enterprises classified as quasi-corporations. This category includes: unpaid family workers, including those working in unincorporated enterprises engaged in market production, homeworkers whose income depends on the value of the products of the production process for which they are responsible, and workers who carry out, both individually and collectively, production activities exclusively for their own final consumption or own capital formation. |
