| Definition |
The indicator refers to transport performance of passengers in local public transport by buses and minibuses, trams, trolleybuses and subway.
The local public passenger transport represents the passenger transport that is carried out with a road vehicle, as well as with the subway, inside the administrative-territorial area of a locality, without exceeding its limits. |

| Methodology |
Passenger performance is expressed in passenger-km (pkm), a unit of measurement defined as the transport of a passenger, over a distance of one km.
The route of passengers in local public transport expresses the volume of passenger transport determined according to the number of passengers transported and the distance actually travelled, with buses and minibuses, trams, trolleybuses and subway.
In order to obtain the number of passengers, the number of passengers with tickets (equal to the number of tickets sold) is added together with the number of passengers with subscriptions of any kind. |

| Observations |
The data for the trolleybuses, buses and minibuses include for year 2014 and 2015 estimates based on the number of free travel authorizations for all the inhabitants of Ploiesti Municipality, granted temporarily by the Local Council.
The data for trams, trolleybuses, buses and minibuses for period 2016 - 2018 do not include retired passengers domiciled in Bucharest, beneficiaries of gratuities according to the provisions of H.C.G.M.B. nr.139 / 2006, as for year 2015 and 2019, the data partially include them.
In 2019, data for trams, trolleybuses, buses and minibuses are not comparable with those of the previous year due to the change in the estimation of the number of passengers transported for subscriptions holders by some public transport companies.
In 2019 and 2020, the metropolitan transport data are included and data related to the localities - end of the route, bordering the county seat municipalities for certain counties.
For the year 2023, the data for the position of buses and minibuses and total data are not comparable with those of the previous year due to the change in the way of determining the number of passengers transported by some local transport companies.
For the period 2009-2016, the position for buses and minibuses from the Bucharest Municipality includes also the data related to Ilfov County.

The differences between the total data and the values obtained from aggregation of the different structures used are due to rounding.
