TNB1212 - Target 1 - Environment - Share of renewable energy in gross final energy consumption by sectors |
Definition |
The indicator measures the share of renewable energy consumption in gross final energy consumption, according to Directive 2009/28/EC on energy from renewable sources. Gross final energy consumption means energy products supplied for energy purposes to industry, transport, the domestic sector, services, including public services, agriculture, forestry and fisheries, including the consumption of electricity and heat in the electricity and heat production sector, as well as losses of electricity and heat from distribution and transport. |

Methodology |
The share of renewable energy in the final gross energy consumption by sectors refers to the following consumption sectors: transport, electricity, heating and cooling. The share of energy from renewable sources in transport is calculated on the basis of energy statistics, in accordance with the methodology described in Directive 2009/28/EC. The contribution of all liquid biofuels is included in the calculation for this indicator until 2010. From 2011, data for liquid biofuels used in the transport sector are limited only to liquid biofuels that comply with Directive 2009/28/EC (those that meet the criteria for durability). The share of electricity obtained from renewable energy sources is defined as the ratio between electricity produced from renewable energy sources and gross national electricity consumption. The share of energy from renewable sources for heating and cooling is defined as the ratio between the final consumption of energy from renewable sources in industry, households, services, agriculture, forestry and fishing for heating and cooling, plus energy for central heating produced from renewable sources and final consumption total for heating and cooling, given by the final consumption of all energy products, except for electricity used for purposes other than transport, plus the consumption of thermal energy for own use of power and thermal power plants and the loss of thermal energy in the network. |
