TNO1211 - Target 1 - Environment - Energy productivity 
Definition The indicator is the ratio of gross domestic product (GDP) to gross energy available for a given calendar year.

Methodology The energy productivity of the economy is a key strategy indicator that helps identify a dysfunction between energy consumption and growth. The changes in the indicator reflect changes in energy productivity and the structure of the economy. The available gross energy is calculated as follows: primary production + recovered and recycled products + imports - exports + stock changes.

Observations The indicator is part of the Resource Efficiency Scoreboard. It is used to monitor progress towards a resource efficient Europe, complementing the key carbon indicator.
