Definition |
Forest area - represents the totality of land areas covered with forest vegetation, consisting of trees and shrubs, reproduced naturally or artificially, which creates a specific environment of biological development and which constitutes the directly productive component of the forest stock, having an individual area of at least 0,25 ha; trees must reach a minimum height of 5 m at maturity under normal vegetation conditions. Artificial regeneration (afforestation) is the set of works by which an area of land is planted or sown in order to create new trees, both on exploited forest land and on land devoid of forest vegetation. |

Methodology |
Methodology for carrying out statistical research in forestry, approved by ORDER of the President of NIS no.1810 of 2010. The term forest includes according to the new forestry code: the forests included in the forest management plans on January 1, 1990, as well as those subsequently included in them, under the law; forest protection curtains; juniper; forested pastures with a consistency greater than or equal to 0.4 (the projection of the tree canopy occupies 40% of the area covered by the forest vegetation and the difference of 60% represents empty spaces). |
