TPE1344 - Target 4 - Environment - Number of deaths and injuries attributed to natural disasters, recorded at the interventions of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, per 100,000 population 
Definition The indicator provides information on the number of dead persons and injured persons registered during the manifestation of the types of risk, from the category of natural disasters, which generated the emergency situation, which return to 100000 inhabitants of the resident population.
Number of deaths: the number of people who died during or immediately after the disaster, as a direct result of the dangerous event.
Number of people injured: the number of people who suffered injuries, illnesses or other health effects as a direct result of the dangerous event.
Natural disaster: is a natural process or phenomenon that can cause loss of life, injury or other effects on health, property damage, loss of livelihood and services, social and economic disruption or damage to the environment.
Emergency situation: exceptional, non-military events that threaten the life or health of the person, the environment, material and cultural values, and to restore normalcy are necessary the adoption of urgent measures and actions, the allocation of specialized resources and unitary management of forces and the means involved.
The indicator is useful for monitoring the reduction of mortality and the number of people affected by disasters by 2030, which will contribute to sustainable development and strengthen economic, social, health and environmental aspects.
The indicator ensures the monitoring of the progress registered for the consolidation of Romania's resilience and capacity to adapt to the risks related to climate and natural disasters.

NIS: Usually resident population of Romania (on January 1 and July 1) 
Methodology The indicator is calculated by reporting the number of deaths and injuries due to natural disasters in the reference year to the resident population on January 1, calculated in terms of comparability with the results of the Population and Housing Census - 2011, multiplied by 100000
Calculation formula:
X_ = ((A_1 + A_2)) / (Resident population) X 100000
