TQC1512 - Target 1 - Environment - Area of marine and terrestrial sites designated under Natura 2000 conditions |
Definition |
Natura 2000 sites are represented by sites of community importance and special avifauna protection areas, which form the European Ecological Network Natura 2000 in Romania. Areas of special avifauna protection are those protected natural areas whose purposes are the conservation, maintenance and, where appropriate, the restoration of a favourable conservation status of bird species and specific habitats, designated for the protection of wild migratory bird species. Sites of community importance represent those areas which, in the biogeographical regions in which they exist, contribute significantly to the maintenance or restoration to a favourable conservation status of the natural habitats or species of community interest in the Annex and which may thus contribute significantly to the coherence of the network Natura 2000 and/or contributes significantly to the maintenance of biological diversity in the respective biogeographical regions. |
