Definition The number of cases of domestic violence reported to the police, resulting in the victim's death refers to the offences solved by the police or declined to the Prosecutor's Office, that resulted in the death of the victim (excluding the offences of manslaughter).

Data sources General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police - Administrative statistical registers 
Methodology Depending on the information available in the statistics of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police for each period, the indicator refers to the following offences solved by the police or declined to the Prosecutor's Office:
- For the years 2008, 2009, 2012: murder (art. 174-176 Criminal Code), infanticide (art. 177 Criminal Code), battery and bodily harm causing death (art. 183 Criminal Code), robbery resulting in the victim's death (art. 211 Criminal Code);
- For the years 2010-2011: murder (art. 174-176 Criminal Code), infanticide (art. 177 Criminal Code), battery and bodily harm causing death (art. 183 Criminal Code);
- For the year 2013: murder (art. 174-176 Criminal Code), infanticide (art. 177 Criminal Code), battery and bodily harm causing death (art. 183 Criminal Code), robbery resulting in the victim's death (art. 211 Criminal Code), rape resulting in the victim's death or suicide (art. 197 Criminal Code);
- For the period 01.01-31.01.2014: murder (art. 174-176 old Criminal Code), infanticide (art. 177 old Criminal Code), battery and bodily harm resulting in the victim's death (art. 183 old Criminal Code), robbery resulting in the victim's death (art. 211 old Criminal Code), rape resulting in the victim's death or suicide (art. 197 old Criminal Code);
- For the period 01.02-31.12.2014 and for the year 2015: murder (art. 188-189 new Criminal Code), determining or facilitating suicide (art. 191 new Criminal Code), battery and bodily harm resulting in the victim's death (art. 195 of the new Criminal Code), killing or harming of a newly-born baby by their mother (art. 200 new Criminal Code), illegal deprivation of freedom resulting in the victim's death (art. 205 new Criminal Code), rape resulting in the victim's death or suicide (art. 218 new Criminal Code), sexual assault resulting in the victim's death or suicide (art. 219 of the new Criminal Code), robbery resulting in the victim's death (art. 236 of the new Criminal Code).
Starting with 2016: murder (art. 188-189 new Criminal Code), determining or facilitating suicide (art. 191 new Criminal Code), battery and bodily harm causing death (art. 195 new Criminal Code), killing or harming of a newly-born baby by their mother (art. 200 new Criminal Code), illegal deprivation of freedom resulting in the victim's death (art. 205 new Criminal Code), rape resulting in the victim's death or suicide (art. 218 new Criminal Code), sexual assault resulting in the victim's death or suicide (art. 219 new Criminal Code), robbery resulting in the victim's death (art. 236 new Criminal Code), torture resulting in the victim's death (art. 282 new Criminal Code).
