Definition From a statistical point of view, an international visitor is any person who travels to a country other than the one where he usually resides, for a period not exceeding 12 months.

Observations The ordering of the countries that make up the European Union is the last situation, corresponding to the year 2007 - EU27.
At EU level, from 01 February 2020, data are calculated without the United Kingdom.
The totals of the European Union for years before 2007, represents the situation at that time.
Since 2003, Yugoslavia contains data for Serbia and Montenegro.

From 1994 until 2011 it included Serbia and Montenegro.
