TUR108A - Departures abroad of Romania visitors by means of transport  
Definition Departures represent the measurement unit for Romanian visitors who travel abroad and are registered when leaving the country. The same person in the country can make several journeys abroad, each time being registered as a new departure.

Break in statistical time series starting with the reference year 2025. Following Romania's full accession to the Schengen Area and the subsequent elimination of internal border controls effective January 1, 2025, the methodology for collecting international travel data has been restructured, rendering the current data non-comparable with previous time series. The recorded figures exclusively capture controlled passenger flows at active external borders and are strictly limited to non-EU (third-country) nationals. Consequently, indicators attributed to EU Member States no longer measure total passenger volume; instead, they solely reflect non-EU citizens arriving from these countries who were subject to border verification. Individuals holding EU citizenship are excluded from statistical border monitoring.
